The Robert C. and Betty Moor Scholarship
Information about the benefactors: Robert C. Moor and Elizabeth Moor…….To begin, Robert C. Moor was raised just outside of Middletown, DE and became Mayor of Middletown in the mid-1960’s. Elizabeth, as a young adult, lived in Clayton, DE where she was employed as a bookkeeper. As the first lady of Middletown, she was a most gracious hostess and was highly involved in the community. They moved to Chesapeake City, Maryland where “Bob” owned Complete Coin Corporation, a pinball and jukebox business which served much of the east coast. “Betty” owned Chesapeake Antiques in Chesapeake City. They were great travelers, seeing most of the world in their lifetime. At different times in their lives, they owned homes in the Bahamas, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Bob was a great character, full of fun, adventure and antics while Betty kept Bob on the “straight and narrow”. Betty became a master craftswoman in the art of crewel. Her work was recognized by Winterthur Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. Both loved Chesapeake City, the people and surroundings. They were generous benefactors to many organizations to include the Episcopal Church, Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland, educational institutions in Cecil County and Delaware and the American Cancer Society.
