The Nicholas Schewe Memorial Fund for Marine Service Technology
Nick grew up on the Chesapeake Bay, boating, fishing and crabbing. The Schewe family has had a slip at McDaniel Yacht Basin for 18 years, and as a teenager, Nick was the “go-to kid” for other slip holders, washing their boats, putting on canvas covers, and bottom painting. When he was 15, he started working summers on the boatyard crew and later set his sights on becoming a boat mechanic. Eventually, he hoped to have a career as a diesel mechanic and maybe even run a charter boat with his dad. Nick had completed his marine mechanics program and was moving up the ranks to achieve his goals. Tragically, he was taken from us on January 12, 2024. Just 21 years old.
We are working through our grief by helping other young aspiring marine professionals achieve their goals. We wish you all the best as you move forward in Marine Service career.
