The Joseph T. Lanzi Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship
This scholarship was established by a professional association of state police troopers in honor of Trooper Joseph T. Lanzi who was killed in the line of duty. A statement from a trooper that served with Lanzi read, “Trooper Lanzi’s impact on the Maryland State Police through his exceptional sense of duty to his profession, his devotion to his family and to the community he served, is worthy of nothing short of being remembered in perpetuity”.
Prior to his death, Trooper Lanzi was well known for his involvement in youth programs such as the Cherry Hill Cougars, the Elkton High School Touchdown Club, the Girl Scouts, the Pony Club, and the YMCA soccer program.
Impact
This scholarship will support a Cecil County resident pursing a degree in criminal justice or law enforcement. If there is no candidate in this field of study, the scholarship may be awarded to a student pursing a degree in nursing.
