The George and Mary Benvegno Scholarship
George and Mary Benvegno were married for 52 years until he passed away too soon, in 2016. George and Mary have been long time supporters of Cecil College, the County and the entire region. George was the President of Colonial Metals, Inc., in Elkton Maryland. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish, where he participated in the choir for Immaculate Conception Church and St. Jude Catholic Church. He was a member and Past President of Elkton Rotary Club; had served on the Cecil College Foundation Board for 9 years; and was a member of the International Precious Metals Institute. He was a charter member and served on the Board of Directors of the Cecil Business Leaders; was instrumental in helping to bring Harford Family Group to Cecil County; and a charter member of Baynet Bank. Other memberships included the Elk River Yacht Club, North East River Yacht Club, and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Springfield, PA.
Impact
The purpose of this scholarship fund is to support a Cecil College student seeking a degree in Nursing. This is a merit based scholarship and the recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
