The Donald Wolf Memorial Scholarship
The Donald Wolf Memorial Scholarship was created in 1990 for Rising Sun High School graduates who are interested in computer science education at Cecil College and may normally not be able to qualify for scholarships based solely on financial need. The family of Donald Edward Wolf established the scholarship to ensure his good deeds and memory could continue after his sudden and early death at the age of 53. Don was born in Baltimore, MD in 1937 and was educated as an engineer. In the pioneering days of computers, Don started his early career programming with companies like Martin Marietta and General Electric. Later, he joined Thiokol Corporation in North East and moved his family to Cecil County. He worked at Thiokol for 25 years and was the Chief of Information Systems there; proud that his work supported space exploration. He was an avid fan of Baltimore sports teams, a bowler, a softball player, a hobby fisherman, a sailing enthusiast, and gentleman farmer who had spent years lovingly renovating the family farm house in Conowingo. The Wolf family members attended Cecil themselves and continue the tradition today most recently through the grandsons of Don who now live in North East.
