The Covatta Family Scholarship

The Covatta Family Scholarship

After decades in the restaurant business, the Covatta family opened Steak and Main in North East in 2003. Owner Tony Covatta prides himself on hiring local employees, most of whom are students. Customers like to come to his restaurant and see familiar faces. His employees benefit, too, because Tony believes that his wait staff’s development helps not only him but the entire county. He only accepts resumes for open positions and is happy to walk an applicant thru resume development. “It gives them confidence realizing they have already accomplished important skills like problem solving, time management and team work,” states Covatta. In addition, Tony’s employees receive a first-class education on food, wine, spirits and customer service. He also stresses the importance of formal education to his staff.
