Sheri Black Memorial Scholarship

Sheri Black Memorial Scholarship

Sharon Black (Sheri) was a Louisville Cardinal Sports fan and most assuredly a baseball fan. Sheri and her husband Ed raised two boys John Parker (“JP”) and Alexander (“Alex”) who matured into young men while playing baseball. JP played for years with Coach Charlie O’Brien’s oldest son, and Alex played for Coach O’Brien at Cecil College. Both JP and Alex went on to Captain their respective NCAA Division I baseball teams.

Sheri also was a competitive softball player and played well into her thirties, typically as a power-hitting third baseman. Sheri loved all of her baseball “boys” and also became a loving grandmother before she passed away on September 8, 2019. While raised in Kentucky, Sheri spent the last sixteen years of her life in Cecil County working as a paralegal for a county law firm and Clene Nanomedicine. This scholarship is being created by Sheri’s family and friends to give more student athletes the opportunity to play baseball at Cecil College and go on to achieve their own Field of Dreams.

Impact

The purpose of this fund is to support a Cecil College student athlete participating on the Seahawk’s baseball team.
