John W. Palmer, Jr., Scholarship
John Palmer Jr. was born March 6th, 1957 and was a resident of Cecil County for most of his life until he past December 14th, 2008. John was a graduate of North East High School and later received his Associate’s Degree in Photography from Cecil Community College. After many years of soul searching, John returned to Cecil Community College and received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 1995. John served as a nurse at Laurelwood Care Center in Elkton, MD for 13 years and was inducted into the hall of fame by his coworkers and the patient community. John had a way to make everyone he met smile and he had an unbelievable passion for helping the sick and rehabilitated. His positive influence on healthcare will live on forever through the recipients of this scholarship.
Impact
The Purpose of this fund is to give back to the Cecil College community just as it supported John and his career as a Nurse. This scholarship is to allow a qualified male Nursing Student to pursue his dream by focusing more on school work than the financial burden that higher education can bring. It is the goal of this fund to set forth a precedent that future and past recipients of this scholarship as well as the surrounding community, finds a need to support the dreams of future care takers of America.
