The Dr. Richard G. & Joan V. Nadeau Endowed Scholarship
When I was growing up in South Eastern New Hampshire, my family had very limited means and so my sisters and I had to help in any way we could. To that end and while I was in high school, I attended the Admiral Television Service Training Center and went into business repairing TVs. That skill enabled me to go to college and continue on for my doctorate degree. My wife Joan, also from a modest background, earned her Bachelor and Master degrees in English, specializing in teaching English as a Second Language. I earned a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry; however, because of my TV repair skills, I never really worked as a traditional biochemist and spent my career developing laboratory and medical instrumentation. My wife and I love that Cecil college is helping so many people get an education or skills that will impact their lives forever, just as my TV repair training not only made my college education possible, but impacted my career path significantly. Consequently, the Scholarship I have established in memory of my wife Joan V. Nadeau is for students perusing a Work Force Skill Training or a Health and Human Sciences path.
