The scholarship fund was created under the leadership of Post Commander Stanley Bensley, a $10,000 gift was made to establish the Cecil County Memorial VFW Post 6027, North East, MD Endowed Scholarship for the purpose of supporting veterans of overseas conflicts in their pursuit of degree attainment, certification or workforce development.
